Waaaaaay, waaaay, way back in 2014, I posted on Instagram my first found heart. It was a clump of dried grass that had just fallen and formed itself into a heart-like shape.
I had recently gotten out of a shit relationship, and seeing that heart allowed me to believe that love was still out there.
Although slightly forced at first, I started to see a ♥️ almost EVERYWHERE I looked. On a pup. In soap suds. From above. Pretty soon, I had friends, family, and followers send me hearts that they had found—on a cow, in miso soup, and through the folds of a newspaper.
Here’s what I know: Love is all around us and in various forms—be it romantic, familial, friends, or something else.
Partnered or solo, please realize that you are loved in so many more ways than you will probably ever know.
It is easy to get caught up in the thinking that you need to be in a relationship or partnered to be loved. To feel loved. Even to be happy. So many of us relate our happiness to being in a relationship.
Others think that love isn’t real, that they’ll never experience it.
**Cough, cough. Been there!**
Friends, love really is around us daily. We just need to open our eyes and hearts to it. Granted, your “perfect “ human might not just appear and the two of you live happily ever after once you do. But opening your eyes and heart allows you to notice the everyday love that is there.
I call them the “micro-moments,” and they make all the difference.
Holding the door open for others. Smiling at a stranger. Surprising a loved one with a visit. The friend who calls out of the blue to let you know you were on their mind.
Love is kindness and acceptance. Once we start to have that for ourselves by softening our walls and removing the blinders from our eyes, we can see all the little acts of love around and for us.
Here’s what else I know: Hearts abound. I find hearts in random objects because it helps me realize that love happens and takes shape in various ways. Sometimes in ways we never realized were possible.
Open your eyes and your hearts. Maybe you start looking for the hearts (love) like I did. Then just let it flow. If you become a fellow heart finder, send them my way! I’d love to see them.
Happy Heart Hunting 🥰
