Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation, paired with focus and concentration, which enables us to reach the subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy is the process of using the therapeutic value of hypnosis while guiding you to:
- Make powerful realizations;
- Become averse to previous unproductive and unhealthy habits; and
- Create new, desired behaviors.
Overall, hypnotherapy provides you with a sense of freedom and a fresh start. And after experiencing this treatment for the first time, many clients are often surprised to report that hypnotherapy is relaxing and quite enjoyable!
Of course, many misconceptions exist about hypnosis. You can probably picture the stereotypical hypnotist, who rhythmically moves a crystal in front of the subject’s face, while repeating, “…you are getting sleepy.” Soon after, the subject is clucking like a chicken. It’s hard not to assume that hypnotherapy will be similar to the ways that the treatment is portrayed in the movies and on television. However, it is not nearly as sensational, and it has a proven record of success.
The simplest definition of hypnosis is that it is a state of increased suggestibility and concentration. Do not expect to go to sleep, be “put under,” or lose touch with reality. When you are in a hypnotic state, you will still be aware of everything that is going on around you
Throughout the session, in my tranquil space in historic Queen Anne, you will be in complete control of yourself and your faculties. You are the driver, and, as your hypnotherapist, I am the passenger.
Like most mental health treatments, the success rate of hypnotherapy depends on each individual person’s openness to be accountable for their actions and be receptive to change.
My Experience with Hypnotherapy
On a personal level, hypnotherapy has completely changed my outlook. Throughout my life, I had battled worthless demons and negative thoughts—I’m stupid, worthless, a failure, and nothing good will ever happen to me.
These irrational ideas were holding me back from success and breaking my confidence.
After just a few hypnotherapy sessions, these thoughts were gone. Vanished. Even when I would try to echo the thoughts that had previously taken up so much space in my brain, I could not.
It seemed like magic, but it is proven to be real and effective.
Hypnotherapy is a powerful process that allows you to access and change the subconscious beliefs that are no longer serving you, replacing those beliefs with positive thoughts and behaviors.
Past Life Regression
A form of hypnotherapy, Past Life Regression can be used to allow healing to take place because you are able to confront unresolved issues and distractions from the past.
Past lives? Yes.
It sounds woo-woo, but it is incredibly powerful.
Think about this quote from Søren Kierkegaard, a Danish philosopher: “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” In other words, by reflecting on our past, we can understand how we reached our present, and remove roadblocks to our future.
