IBS Hypnotherapy

Have you been struggling with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and feel like you’ve tried everything?

If you’re one of the millions who suffer from IBS, you know how debilitating the symptoms can be. Cramps, diarrhea, constipation—the list goes on. You probably have tried all sorts of things to get relief, but nothing seems to work for long.

But what if I told you there was a solution that could help you get relief from IBS symptoms for good?

I’m sure you are skeptical and have heard that a million times, but what I want to share with you isn’t a lifestyle change, new medication, or a special diet. It’s a special form of hypnosis that could be the solution for you!

Multiple studies have shown gut-directed hypnotherapy to be an effective treatment for IBS, with the majority of patients seeing improvement in symptoms.

  • Monash University’s 2019 study found that Hypnotherapy for IBS reduced abdominal pain, bloating, and nausea by up to 72%.
  • A 2015 study published in Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics found that 76% of 1,000 patients had a significant reduction in IBS symptom severity and noncolonic symptoms (back pain, headaches, lethargy, etc.) with an increase in quality of life.
  • In 2002, Olafur Palsson, Psy.D., and his team of researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that up to 94% of patients responded to Hypnotherapy for IBS, and found the benefits to last as long as a year. (Dr. Palsson remains a staunch advocate for IBS Hypnosis, especially for patients who have not responded to medication, home remedies, and alternative medicines, and he continues to study its effects.)

Hypnotherapy can help to relax your muscles and calm your digestive system.

Are you ready to find long-term relief from your IBS symptoms and kick IBS (and its control over your life) to the curb? Let’s get started!

My gut-directed hypnotherapy program is a series of nine sessions. In the very first session, in my peaceful Queen Anne location, we’ll just start by talking so that I can understand where you are with IBS, how long you have been suffering, and other treatment methods you have tried.

The next eight sessions follow a tried and true method for IBS hypnotherapy, developed by the world-renowned Patrisha Palmer of the Pellen & Palmer Institute in Australia. I will incorporate different scripts with running themes into our sessions. Each script is different, and I will tailor the session to you, depending on your needs.

In general, our sessions will start with guiding you to a hypnotic state, followed by relevant suggestions and visualization exercises that are aimed at calming your digestive tract and leading you away from focusing on the sensations in your gut. For example, I might suggest using your hands to induce warmth in your abdomen.

You might be curious about using a self-guided app, like Nerva, for IBS hypnotherapy. The difference between working with me and using an app is that I am in the room with you, tailoring each session specifically to you and your needs. For example, in our initial session, we’ll uncover two parts of yourself—the part that wants to let go and be free of IBS, and the part that seems to be resisting the effort. Just knowing these two parts and their motivation helps me to focus and adapt the session to them, which facilitates incredible healing.

Plus, you have the ability to ask me questions at any time so that you fully understand the process. Many times, clients who seek me out have reached their max with “traditional” approaches to treatment and are aware of (and curious about) how beneficial hypnosis for IBS can be. And finally, a notification or reminder from an app is very easy to dismiss. Working with a person and scheduling appointments naturally leads to being more accountable.

Another place where medication can fail but hypnotherapy can help? Changing the way that you think about your IBS.

When under hypnosis, you will be more focused and relaxed, and you will be able to identify and change any negative thoughts or beliefs about your IBS that may be contributing to your symptoms. Second, hypnotherapy can help to relax your muscles and calm your digestive system. This can help to reduce feelings of bloating, cramping, and diarrhea.

Finally, hypnotherapy can help you to develop better coping mechanisms for dealing with stress and anxiety. This can help to reduce the occurrence of IBS symptoms in times of stress.

So if you’re looking for a long-term solution to your IBS symptoms, consider gut-directed hypnotherapy.

You might be surprised at how well it works, and that you’ve finally found the relief you have been searching for—for years.

Still skeptical? Trust me; I get it. I’m sure you’re scared this is just one more “fix” that promises you the world but just doesn’t deliver. But I truly believe I can help you find long-term IBS relief. Let me help you take back control of your life from IBS symptoms, and find the freedom to be YOU again! That’s why I offer a free 20-minute discovery call so that I can answer any questions you have and learn more about you. What do you have to lose?
